About John Kay
Since 2012, John has been responsible for all aspects of Realize’s strategy, marketing, relationship building and business development. As a Principal Consultant, John advises organizations in the areas of strategy, performance management, sustainable finance, social enterprise development and supply chain management.
Prior to joining Realize, John held a series of senior positions in the private and public sectors, including Chief Operating Officer of the WE Group of Companies where he led a $50-million values-driven business, as well as Executive Director of Corporate Development at the BC Ministry of Advanced Education, where he oversaw the organization’s corporate planning, risk management, communications, project management and business continuity initiatives. John holds an Executive MBA from the Segal Graduate School of Business and a CMA designation from the Society of Management Accountants of British Columbia. An active volunteer, John currently chairs the boards of Fairtrade Canada and the British Columbia Co-operative Association. From 2010 through 2013, he served as both Director and Chair of the Finance Committee for Fairtrade International, which is based in Bonn, Germany.
John is also a Groundswell mentor, specializing in cooperatives, finance, business planning, and market feasibility.
